So I realized the other day that I haven’t written a post in like 3 weeks? Sometimes life gets busy, so figure. So what’s going on with me you may wonder? Actually, you may not wonder that at all, but I’m going to tell you anyway. The most exciting thing that’s happened recently is that I just had my birthday! Whooo….I’m officially old. No but really, I had a really nice day doing things with friends and family and I got some fantastic gifts, including a few from my list I posted at the beginning of July!
[Side note: Is it weird that one of my favorite gifts was a bathroom scale? I take an unusual amount of happiness at being able to weigh myself every day….I don’t have an eating disorder, I promise…]
Anyway, one of the coolest birthday occurrences this year actually happened the day before my birthday, but it still counts in my opinion. I came home from work to a package from some bookseller that I had never heard of before, and I was all:
I hadn’t ordered anything, and I knew my parents hadn’t ordered anything in my name, so I had absolutely no clue what it was. I opened it, and TA-DAH!!! I found two copies of “Crochet 2013 Calendar”, and I was instantly deliriously excited. Here’s the story. Back in spring of 2011 I submitted two crochet patterns for this calendar to the “compiler/editor”, who had just happened to contact me over Ravelry and told me that she liked my patterns. (By the way, if you’re a crocheter or knitter and don’t know what Ravelry is, you’re missing out…big time. And yes, I’m the ultimate granny-in-training, I do actually crochet quite frequently.) I didn’t hear back from them until May of THIS year (what a long time to wait, right?), saying that both my patterns had been accepted for the 2013 Crochet Calendar, yay! But I wasn’t going to actually get my free copies of the calendar until they’d actually been made, which was who knows when. So obviously, I was very excited that this
showed up on my doorstep the day before my birthday, because I wasn’t expecting them until fall. 🙂 If you’d like to see the patterns I submitted, you can actually find them for free on Ravelry under the username “kaityh1”, or on my crochet blog (which hasn’t been updated in a year, I know, I’m a terrible person) both here and here. Or, if you want to actually buy the calendar for next year, you can buy them on Amazon for $13.49. Spiffy right?
Anywho, it’s about time to get back to my exciting life of postal work and housesitting! Au revoir!
